Is There A Natural Talent For Prosperity? Proverbs 16:20

The Bible describes the attitude of the prosperous person as someone who has a double approach toward success.

"Whoever gives heed to instruction prospers, and blessed is the one who trust in the Lord." Proverbs 16:20.

This verse puts two statements together and at first they do not seem to have much in common but there is a thought that unites them.

PROSPERS AND BLESSING
Both these things are good. To prosper is to increase in what is esteemed and blessing is experiencing the favor of the Lord.

OBVIOUS AND OVERLOOKED
Heed instruction and you will do well. This verse says more than obey your boss, do what he says and you will advance in your career, receive promotions and raises. Indeed you should learn your job or craft, seek those who are its masters and receive their instructions then you will be a master of your craft who is worth more- but this verse has a deeper truth below the surface.

TRUE INSTRUCTION
God has given us instruction in His Holy Word that guides our actions, attitudes, thoughts and motivations. If we head His teachings we will have more than monetary prosperity but prosperity on every level in life. It may be that we will have little wealth but riches of character, spirituality, friendships, and other blessings that outweigh gold or silver.

LORD
When we do our part by learning and following the directions of the Lord as a proactive life attitude, this life will attitude grow in our heart becoming an attitude of trust and faith in God. God rewards our trust in Him and is waiting for us to demonstrate that trust so He can bless us.

TRUST HIS PROMISE
You can take this verse as a promise that if we listen to God's teaching and trust Him then He will bless and prosper us.

Does the Bible Teach Investing? Proverbs 19:17

If you could choose who would be in your debt would you choose someone who was penniless or someone who possessed the wealth the universe?

"He who is kind to the poor lends to the Lord and He will repay him for what he has done" Proverbs 19:17

AN ALLEGORY
A man spent years in designing a purse. He made a model to present to a manufacturer, hoping the production and sale of the purse would provide for his family.  To demonstrate its unique properties he filled it with his wallet, bank accounts, keys, photos, and other valuable things. On the way to the manufacture, he lost the purse.

A friend found the purse, it was covered in mud but the friend cleaned it and finished the delivery to the manufacturer. The man who designed the purse was grateful and being a noble person rewarded the friend making him a partner in what became a successful design and forever after had a deeper relationship to the friend.

GOD WILL REPAY
God is like the man who designed the purse but what He made is the people around us- each one is his. When we do kindness to other people we are being kind to the property of the Lord Almighty. God is holy and as such cannot be in debt to us.

God will repay his debts, but he will not be manipulated, and we cannot give simply to receive. We give because...
     * It is the right thing to do.
     * It honors God.
     * We have been blessed for the purpose of being a blessing.
     * The ones we help are just like us and we may be needy someday.
     * It fulfills the command to love.
     * We are made in God's image and since He is a giver so we must be giving.

There is no guarantee of monitory returns for being kind to the people God created, but considering the power and potential of the Lord Almighty however He chooses to repay will be wonderful.

Is There A Special Trait That Leads To Wealth?

Is there a unique trait that is most likely to lead to wealth; and if there was a character trait that was going to mean you would increase your odds of becoming financially free and wealthy wouldn't it be a good idea to develop it in yourself? The Bible says there is such a character trait.

"Blessed are those who find wisdom, those who gain understanding....long life is in her right hand, in her left are riches and honor." Proverbs 3:13 &16

BLESSED
Blessing is associated with the favor of The Lord. To be blessed is another word for happy or joyful but the source is not circumstances or material goods instead it is the grace of God.

FIND WISDOM
Wisdom does not come naturally: it is something we find; that means we need to look for it. It takes effort. Our Father in Heaven wants us to be wise and he wants to give us wisdom but we must do our part too. "If any man lacks wisdom let him ask God who gives to all men liberally." James 1:5. Pray daily and ask for wisdom and God will give it to you.

Since wisdom comes from God (Proverbs 2:6.) to seek wisdom is also to seek God.

WISDOM
Many have tried to define exactly what wisdom is. It is associated with knowledge in the Bible and seems to be the best use of knowledge with the guidance of a moral set of values approved by God.

Wisdom is a lifelong pursuit. We must daily seek The Almighty and search His Word to find wisdom, and  we must pray for wisdom.

HOPE
The verse quoted above suggests that some do find wisdom. It is there and you may find it if you apply yourself to searching for it; and if you find it you will find the promise of long life and riches and honor.

Does The Bible Say Money Will Give What You Desire?

Our desire for money may be the tip of the iceberg of something else; and it is not really wealth we want but there is something, a need, or a fear that we think wealth will satisfy.

Why would someone want wealth? A partial list might be...
  • We may think wealth will free us from worries.
  • We may think money will give security.
  • We may wish we had what others have.
  • We may worry about providing the basic necessities of life.
  • We may think money will make us attractive to a future spouse.
  • We may think money will solve our debt problem.
  • We may think money will give us a desirable life style.
So, the desire for wealth is motivated by these other desires; and these underlining causes are our true heart desire. What if we found a way of satisfying those desires? We would be free, and not spend all of our time and energy chasing money, we might enjoy life.

The Bible talks about our inner motivations, and gives a promise that answers our inner desires.

"Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desire of your heart."Psalm 37:4. NIV.

DELIGHT
To delight is to find your happiness in something. This phrase, "Delight yourself," is an instruction or command, it suggests we must make it a point, a discipline, or a practice of choosing to delight ourselves in God.

We each must find how to delight ourselves in the Lord. Here are some ideas to start with.
  • Read the Bible daily.
  • Pray daily.
  • Practice worship, (attend worship services at a community of faith).
  • Practice service to God and others.
  • Meditate on the good things God does and is.
HEART
When we delight ourselves in God we will experience a change of heart. Some of those things that seemed so big and looming shrink in comparison to God. Our hearts mature beyond the smaller things and goals in life. We find a faith in God that becomes a better solution than chasing money and throwing it at problems.

GIVE
God who is all-powerful, all-good, who owns the "cattle on a thousand hills,"* has "hidden treasures stored in secret places.* and is so generous that he has already given his son to pay for our sins, (John 3:16), He promises to give you your heart's desire, and we can be confident in him.

The Bible promises that the way we may have our desires fulfilled is to delight ourselves in God.
